Dobratsch Circuit - Stage 1: Warmbad-Villach – Bad Bleiberg

The Dobratsch Circuit connects diverse landscapes, cultural highlights, and impressive views around Carinthia’s oldest nature park over five stages. Covering approximately 85 kilometres, 2,400 metres in elevation, and around 25 hours of walking time, hikers experience the full diversity of the region: from gentle valley sections and traditional villages to scenic high-altitude trails. The Dobratsch Circuit is thus an ideal experience for anyone who wants to discover the nature park in its entirety – step by step, stage by stage. Stage 1: Warmbad-Villach – Bad Bleiberg The first stage of the circular hiking trail leads from the outskirts of the city of Villach into the quiet, forested slopes of the Dobratsch and from there into the Bleiberg high valley. Along the way, you will enjoy an almost untouched landscape while gaining initial insights into the rich cultural history of Villach’s local mountain. Here, you enter a world of its own, shaped for centuries by mining and characterised by its distinctive architecture. By the time you reach Bad Bleiberg, the day’s destination, you will recognise its special character and succumb to its rugged charm. The hike is accompanied by Naturpark rangers. A shuttle will take you back to the starting point, with a return around 5:30 PM.
