Dobratsch Runde - Stage 4: Thörl Maglern - Arnoldstein

The Dobratsch Runde connects diverse landscapes, cultural highlights, and impressive views around Carinthia’s oldest nature park over five stages. Covering a total of approximately 85 kilometers, 2,400 meters in elevation, and around 25 hours of hiking, participants experience the full diversity of the region: from gentle valley sections to traditional villages and scenic high-altitude trails. The Dobratsch Runde is thus an ideal experience for anyone who wants to discover the nature park in its entirety—step by step, stage by stage. Stage 4: Thörl Maglern - Arnoldstein The fourth stage of the circular hiking trail leads to the Three-Country Corner, the highest point of the circular trail and the geological intersection of the Carnic Alps and the Karawanks. With just a few steps, you cross the borders of three cultures, which are even reflected in distinct language families—Germanic, Slavic, and Romance. From there, the Dobratsch reveals its true size, and the length of the distance covered becomes apparent. To the south, the imposing mountain scenery of the Julian Alps takes your breath away. Descending, the stage ends in Arnoldstein with the striking ruins of the former Benedictine monastery of the Diocese of Bamberg. The hike is accompanied by Naturpark rangers. A shuttle will take you back to the starting point, with a return around 5:30 PM.
